Walk Along the Water
The exhibition, "Walk Along the Water, Oakland's Dynamic Waterfront",
was developed by a team of interested people from the community in
collaboration with the Oakland Museum of California. The exhibition
explored the estuary waterfront from many perspectives – history,
environment, and recreation as well as business and economic elements.
The exhibition opened to the public in the History Department of the
museum October 5, 1996 and ran through May 4, 1997.
This webpage draws on some of the historical elements developed for the
exhibition to highlight the fascinating changes over time on the Oakland
and Alameda waterfronts.
